Amazon allows titles up to 200 characters. However, “brevity is the soul of wit” – your titles should ideally contain no more than 80 characters. In addition, there are category-specific style guides.
What is not allowed in the title according to Amazon?
• Titles must not contain promotional phrases (e.g., "free shipping", "100% quality guarantee").
• Titles must not contain decorative characters (e.g., ~ ! * $ ? _ ~ { } # < > * ^ ¬ ¦).
• Do not use extended ASCII characters such as Æ, ©, or ®.
• Titles should include just enough information to identify the item.
• Avoid subjective comments like "hot item" or "bestseller".
• Do not include your store name in the title.
• Size and color variations belong in sub-ASIN titles, not in the main title.
• Words must not be repeated more than twice.
How should the Amazon title be formatted?
• Do not write EVERYTHING IN CAPITAL LETTERS.
• The first word and all nouns should be capitalized.
• Use digits (e.g., "2" instead of "two").
• Titles may contain necessary punctuation such as hyphens (-), slashes (/), commas (,), ampersands (&) and periods (.).
• Units of measurement can be abbreviated, e.g., "cm", "oz", "in", or "kg".
